If you are a high school aged student who possesses skills in web or mobile app development and you are interested in further developing your skills and gaining experience working on projects for paying clients, becoming a STEM Engine Team Member might be the right opportunity for you.

  • Who can become a Team Member?
    • Students who are currently enrolled in High School (grades 9-12)
  • What kind of work does STEM Engine do?
    • Creating and developing web sites for clients
    • Creating and developing mobile apps for clients
  • When do I have to work?
    • No more than 10 hours per week per student
    • After school, your core hours will be 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm (local time)
    • Other times, on your own
      • You may chose to work during the weekend or later evening hours, that is OK
  • Where will I work?
    • Online, via GoTo Meeting, Google Hangout, or Skype
    • Digital Harbor Foundation Tech Center, located in Federal Hill
    • Other locations are possible depending on where you live / go to school and how many other participants are in the same area
  • Why would I want to work for STEM Engine?
    • Enhance skills in web and/or mobile development
    • Begin building a resume while still in high school
    • Get ahead of the pack, why wait until you are in college or out of college to begin working and building experience and portfolio
    • Earn scholarship money which can be used when you graduate or exit the program
      • Scholarship money may be used for college, trade school, starting a business, or purchasing a home
    • Make new friends
    • Work with other students who are interested in the same things you are
    • Learn what it is like to work for a real development shop, working on real work, for real clients
  • How do I become a Team Member?
    • Complete the Student Application for STEM Engine below
    • Receive an invitation to setup an interview
    • Complete an interview
    • If accepted, complete a Parent/Guardian Meeting with The Grimeses
    • Agree to the Code of Conduct
    • Receive an assignment to a project or wait for the next project to begin
